Heyas Pix, I hope you are around...the question often gets brought up about computer specs etc when using zbrush. I know that the new z might require more of our computer resources. That is just a guess...my question is...What are the specs for the computers you work your artististic magic on? I am sure alot of people on the forum would love to hear what the Z god works with and if we should maybe look to upgrading our systems while all the Christmas sales are going on for newer and better components.. :tu:
thnx
Ron

A ZX 81 overlocked :D

Frenchy, I think you'll find that he has now aquired a Spectrum 48 and has networked the ZX as a render farm. I'm checking Ebay now to see if there are any for sale. ;)

you have to give the zgods their wished RAM -
more more more.. :D (>1024) all other is useless
(although a 3000+ CPU is not a blemish)
a big monitor for your eyes..and time, mucho time... :p
(the >256MB graficcard is only for playing.. )

All I know is that he stated he was using a "fast" laptop with 1 gig of RAM. Here's the link http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=013356&p=2 from his RRRat post.

Just bought myself a new PC specifically for ZBrush... :D
It's a Athlon 3200+ with 1024Mb RAM, a GeForce 5900 FX Ultra 256Mb graphics card, 120Gb of HDD space and a 18.1" plasma monitor. I paid £2122 for it from MESH.
I'm hoping this will be just good enough to handle the latest installment of ZBrush ;)

The two most important factors for ZBrush performance are RAM and CPU speed.
More RAM allows for larger documents and more detailed (higher resolution) meshes while a faster CPU will allow ZBrush to operate more quickly, all around.
Your first consideration should be to have enough RAM to support the complexity of the scene and meshes which you are planning to make and then to increase the CPU speed to allow for fluid interaction.
Minimum system requirements will be specified when the new version is released.

Well, don't ask me how - but I could manage to sneak into some office (ZBrush-stickers all around, strange beast's poster's on every wall, one sheet of paper with an underlined "pixolator for president" on it), and was able to take this picture of the nightshift doing something to Pixolator's machine -- I guess :D :D :D
