Hi, I thought i'd share my head wip with you. This is pretty much my first full head. modelled the base mesh in wings, and then sculpted in Zbrush. Currently the wrinkles are 2.5d, but i'm going to make them work in 3d when ive learnt how.
I'm going to take it in either a Gollum like direction, or an old man...any suggestions?

Hey Troy

Good start.

I'd move the nose up the face and give him more of a chin.

Hope this helps.

An update, but i'm not sure if it's better or worse. - the eyelids are hard because they're in such a mess

Re: wrinkles

I'm assuming when you said the wrinkles were painted in 2.5d mode, that the 3d model was baked and no longer editable. Is that correct?

If so, you can get around this by painting the wrinkles in Texture master, apply a material with a bump and still retain the model as an editable 3D object.

Hope this helps.

Real nice head, by the way. :tu: :tu:

hi, i've got an update- the eyes are strange, but I think that adds to the assymetry of the character, or thats my excuse anyway: http://bandados.sphosting.com/smeagol.jpg
Everything is 3d - eye, bump map, etc, except just the skin colour &eyebrows. They were handpainted because I had problems making a colour and bump map together.
Just standard render in zbrush aswell...

Tell me what you think.
