Okay, so he does look like a horse :) I thought he would look better as one, so I came up with a new idea for him. (Thanks Slosh for the suggestion. When I made him, it made me think of a deer). I came up with a sort of seahorse-dragon-like thing swimming in the ocean, making his rounds about the lost city of Atlantis. Here is the basic beginning of the image. I have a lot more modeling I want to do. I took into consideration Stonecutter's suggestions and started playing around with the lights. I don't know if I will keep them this way yet. I think it is looking good so far.

List of stuff I'm going to add...
1. Seahorse/fishy touch to him
2. Better modeling and nicer looking hooves
3. Realistic watery background
4. Mane and tail flowing around him in the waves
5. Atlantis
6. Better looking bubbles
7. Better lighting (maybe???)
8. Golden armor
9. Anything else I think of...

That's a good start (0_o) Anyway, tell me what you think. Can't wait to post the final. lol. I will post images as I get closer to completion. Thank you :D

Well, scratch numbers 1 and 2 off the list :) Here is an update after I worked with the model (just a little) and added some fins. By the way, the horse and the fins are zspheres. The head is a sphere3d. Up next is a better background... ^_^' lol.

I added the background and armor. Comments please. Thanks :)

Nice, T! :tu:

I think this might benefit from a little play with the lighting placement and coloring...A light gold color in the light in front, and a little reddish-gold rim-lighting might be an interesting experiment...In case the 'rim-lighting' is new to you, if you place a light near the edge of the sphere in the light panel, and then click on the grey rectangle without moving it, it will move behind the sphere to give you a 'rim light'...You then increase the intensity to suit the mood you want to create... ;)

 :tu: :tu: :tu:

EDIT: Here's an example using the colors and placement of lights I suggested...

Of course, your model has more interesting shapes, and will show off the effect much more dramatically... ;)

Tish, this is really cool, and even though you intended it to be a dragon, I think it would make a wonderful carousel horse!

Hmmm...maybe a new project idea! This is a perfect example of why I think EVERY picture is inspirational. Thanks for sharing!

Sounds like an extremely ambitious project, Tishina! And by the looks of the animal so far, it's going to be really something. I can't wait to see your progress here. I agree about the lighting...it's hard to say how you might do the lighting at this stage of the game. Once you get the other elements in, you will probably change the lights 100 times. Suggestion for future plans: Use the snake hook brush for the flowing mane and tail. Then when you are all done, you can bake the horse layer and smudge the hair around, giving it a whispy, flowing look.

I really like the body. I've been fighting to get a nice horse body.

I just had a thought that maybe to make it look more an aquadic creature perhaps the legs could flow into fins rather than hooves... just a thought.

Thanks for the comments :) I am progressing well and will have another update pretty soon.

Oh, and here is a gift for D. Lee. :)

Enjoy :) Anyone can use the horse however they like (it is only a body, though). Have fun! :D

Hey everyone  Could I get a little more feedback on the last update? I'm open to suggestions on how I can improve this. Thank you :)

Well, since you asked T...

This is only a personal opinion, but I think you went a little overboard adding all the 'pointy' stuff...I think your model was a lot cleaner when you started, and a lot of that stuff looks stuck on...

As I said, that's only my opinion. I think you have to plan ahead, and the original was nice, and only needed a little more refining of the hooves etc... ;)
