If you apply a 'MaskAll' to your sphere, and use the texture as an Alpha, then select 'Alp' in the Selection menu,to mask using the Alpha, you can use 'Inflate' to make the balloon part bulge through what would look like netting... ;)

EDIT : Here's a little script to show you the process...Show Actions, and Delay are set, so you just have to run it...It produces this :
