This is my second model in ZBrush:

This is a dino head, although it is not based on any "real" dino head. I just wanted to get creative and play a bit. So this was all hand painted.

I started with the typical 3D Sphere and begain painting and pulling parts by using MOVE. Now I have to add the horns, other details and paint him.

BTW - These are just screen grabs direct out of ZBrush while working.

Great work!

I like the method you described...

For a long time I just used add and subtract...

After Ron Haris told me about Move, My modeling time got cut into about 1/8 of the time to ge the shape I wanted :)...

I have also started to try mastering the Size.... It comes in realy handy when makeing round things like eyeballs, and forheads...

Size is alsi a fast way to model a quick hat, and also with size and a small brush is a great way to make hair...

Moles and Pimples, and horns are fast with size also...

You are moveing along at a verry fast pace!

I hope you like Zbrush...

It is my favorite tool :)

I use move to first rough out the shape. For example, on the head above, I created the 3D Sphere and then used move to move inward the lower portion of the head (where the jaw is) to create the basic front profile. Then I rotated the head to the side profile, pulled out the snout area and continued to move things until I had a basic shape. Once the basic shape was completed I started to paint details.

As I paint I like to slowly build up the shape a little at a time. To do this I typically set the Z Intensity to about 2 (yep, only 2) and then work with a smaller brush (size 8 - 10 in most cases). I will, of course, use larger brushes for larger areas, but I have been typically using the smaller ones. I found that I have more control by keeping the Z Intensity low.

And MOVE is a great tool. Lot's of fun :) .

Great model Dan, your artistic hand are very obvius and have done a very elegant model. I just imagine this model with textureĦĦĦ
