Kaz,

Very nice... uh... thing! Mysterious yet perfectly reasonable construct. I have a special liking for things like that.

Hi Kaz
For the old computer your process is no appropriate :)
It's more easy to draw without light, render (spray is dispendious of this sort of things)...
and just re-intoduce it at the end :)
Result will be the same and very more quickly :)

Hey Frenchy,
Can you explain further. I dont understand :)

Hi Kaz
just that :)
When I play your script, when you "spray" the "big cube" with the "little cubes" lights and shadows are rendrering between each "spraying" :)
(it's visible on my old computer, maybe not on the recents :)
I believe that you can spray in "quick" mode and just at the end make a best render with lights, shadows etc...
On my compute the spraying it's instantaneous like the blue one :) (http://www.pixolator.com/zbc-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=1&t=009619&p=2) before best rendering!

But maybe I am wrong

Ok, Frenchy, I see.

I think what is happening is that I increased the resolution of the cube, so the spray is slow. I tried it again with a standard cube and it was pretty fast :)

see ya
