mid greyed out

This next question is slightly zscript related. I want to adjust the midvale in the displacement map slider. No matter what I do I cant ungrey it?
I tried adjuesting it with code...the slider acttually goes up and down, but alas, no difference in result. I'm assuming because it's greyed out, no matter what value I set it to, its not gona change the map generated. Is there a way to activate this? why is it greyed?

scratch that...got it to work...was a problem with my script. So apparently you can edit the mid function with script commands... the question is, why is it greyed in the first place?

You need to have a displacement map selected to activate the slider. I don't know why - perhaps to stop inadvertent re-setting as normally it would be set to .5 .
